SSJ's DAAL MAKHANI - NO ONION-GARLIC RECIPE (CREAMY LENTIL)



So as just one day left now for Navratras , why not share something everyone's favorite but without ONION-GARLIC this time. ya, i am talking about the famous Indian DAAL MAKHANI... so here is the recipe specially for you Happy-Eaters...


INGREDIENTS

Urad Daal - 1 cup, soaked overnight
Tomato - 1, chopped finely
Tomato Puree - 3tbsp.
Ginger - 1 inch, finely chopped
Green Chili - 1-2 , slit
Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp.
Butter - 50 gms.
Oil - 1tsp.
Fresh cream -1/2 cup
Salt to taste
Turmeric - 1/4 tsp.
Red chili powder - 1/4 tsp.
Garam Masala - 1/2 tsp.
Asafoetida (Hing) - a pinch

METHOD

Boil the soaked daal with 2 cups of water and pinch of salt and asafoetida.

Heat a pan with oil and butter. Add Cumin seeds and let them crackle.
Now add chopped ginger and cook for 2 minutes.
Add chopped tomatoes and cook till tomatoes start soften.
Add green chilies as per your own taste. if you don't want then you can skip them also.
Add Tomato puree to get rich flavor of tomatoes.
Add salt, turmeric and red chili powder. mix well and cook for 3-4 minutes.
Cook till oil starts coming on edges.
Add boiled Daal now with cooking liquid also. mix well.
Cook on high heat till daal start boiling. add extra water if needed.
Cook on low heat after boiling till Daal starts thicken, approx 7-8 minutes.Add Garam masala also now.
Now add fresh cream and mix well.
After adding cream just cook for 2-3 minutes.Serve hot with garnish of fresh cream.


So just make it and enjoy with your family even in Navratras.
