So we were talking about South Indian spices from 2 days and now we will complete this trilogy with my favorite Andhra Spice mix… “Gun Powder”. This powder mostly used with idli as dry chutney. Just add warm coconut oil in it and mix and done. This is the main ingredient of the famous Andhra Spiciest recipe…Chicken65. Here is easiest and simplest way to make this spice mix…
SSJ’s EASIEST HOMEMADE GUN POWDER
Chana daal – ½ cup
Urad daal (white) – ½ cup
Sesame seeds (Til) – little less than ½ cup
Salt – ½ tsp.
Hing/ asafetida – ¼ tsp.
Black peppercorn (Kali Mirch) – 7-8
Whole red chilies – 10-12
Curry patta – 8- 10
Dry mango powder – 1tsp.
Oil – ¼ tsp.
Heat oil in a pan, add whole red chilies and black peppercorn and roast till crispy dark, keep aside.
Now add sesame seeds and curry patta and roast till sesame seeds start light brown and keep aside.
Now roast chana daal and urad daal with asafetida with golden brown.
Now when it all get cool, mix salt and dry mango powder in it and make a smooth powder in mixer.
Keep it a airtight jar and use whenever you need. it can stay for more then 3 months easily in your kitchen.
