SSJ's HOMEMADE ONION POWDER & HOMEMADE GARLIC POWDER




Hey Happy-Eaters,

              Now its time for 2 of the most important ingredients of many sauces and recipes which is not available everywhere and mostly people make it at own but I got so many times the complain that it won’t stay for a long time. And these 2 recipes are HOMEMADE ONION POWDER & HOMEMADE GARLIC POWDER. If you still never made it then made it now. I will tell you the simplest way to make the both and it will stay in your kitchen for months and won’t spoil ever.



INGREDIENTS



Even for these recipes , there is nothing to say about the ingredients because there is simple one ingredients to make it. But as quantity for approximately 50gms. Of Onion powder, you need 4 big onions and for the same quantity of Garlic powder, you need around 125 gms. Of garlic cloves.



METHOD



For Onion Powder :

Cut the onions in slices as thin as you can even as transparent. Now take a muslin cloth, put all onion slices and press them hard to get all excess water from onions.

Now spread them in a big plate and put them to get dry in direct sunlight for approximately 4 days. Onions must get crispy dry.

Now put them in a mixer and crush till you get smooth powder.

For Garlic Powder :

For garlic, you don’t need to peel or cut. Just crush garlic cloves by hard press of your knife and take off the peels. Pull the cloves to open from inside and spread them in a big plate and put them to get dry in direct sunlight for approximately 4 days. Garlic must get completely dry from inside.

Now put them in a mixer and crush till you get smooth powder.

MOST IMPORTANT

If you think that after above process you got the perfect Onion and Garlic Powder then that is the biggest mistake people do and spoiled there complete process. After these above steps which powdered Onion and Garlic you got, was having so much moisture still inside but you will get to see after some time when it will start spoil.

Here is the next step…

Now put these powdered Onion and Garlic in some jars but don’t close the lid tightly and put them again in direct sunlight for minimum 3 days and then put them again in your mixer. This time you will get the best and perfect ONION & GARLIC POWDER and it can stay for more than 6 months or so on.




People mostly skip this long process and make oven dried onion/garlic powder, you can also make it by putting your onion/ garlic on the lowest temperature setting for minimum 3 hours or till you get them completely dried but the flavor will come as roasted not fresh. The choice is yours.



These both powders used in many recipes of sauces like Barbeque as where we need all dried ingredients to enhance the flavor or like popcorns etc. don’t skip these recipes because we will use them in our coming another HOMEMADE recipes…

  1. The tip was really useful to put them again in sunlight as people would normally think its done after the first 4/5 days or so..
